I hope the leadership thoroughly verifies anyone before welcoming them into the party, especially those who were part of the previous ruling regimes. Their mindset is often just to exploit and loot the common people. I am saying this based on my own knowledge and experience from my own area. For the last 15 years, a particular ruling party was in power here. But recently, after the election, the opposition party won the seat. Now, there is a local person I know who was with that previous ruling party for 15 years. He built massive wealth by exploiting people and abusing his connection to power. He was not even a big leader. He was just a ground level worker with limited authority, yet he managed to loot lakhs of rupees from ordinary people. Now that the power has shifted and other groups are targeting him, he is trying to save himself. He is using his money to contact high level leaders of the newly elected party. He is trying to buy his way in and secure a powerful position. This is why we must be extremely careful. If people like him can change colors so easily just to protect their looted wealth, it will ruin the party's image.
